Hitmen blow third-period lead, fall to the Giants 6-5

LANGLEY (660 NEWS) – The Calgary Hitmen entered the third period up 5-2 until the Vancouver Giants rallied back to take the game from the Langley Events Centre 6-5 Friday night.

The Giants tied a franchise record with their 11th straight win.

Vancouver rattled off four unanswered goals in the final frame, including the eventual winner from Justin Sourdif, who finished with his first career Western Hockey League hat-trick.

Eric Florchuk, Bowen Byram and Tyler Preziuso also found the back of the net for the Giants.

The Hitmen were led by Luke Prokop with his first-ever two-goal game while Kyle Olson, Mark Kastelic, and Orca Wiesblatt added singles on a night where the Hitmen outshot Vancouver 36-32.

The loss snaps Calgary’s four-game winning streak and drops their record to 3-1 on their B.C. Division road trip.

The road trip wraps up in Kamloops on Saturday, Feb. 22 against the Blazers.
