2020 Cavalry FC schedule released, league changes season format

TORONTO (660 NEWS) — Saturdays are going to be busy at Spruce Meadows this soccer season.
Cavalry FC has released its schedule for the upcoming 2020 campaign, and it features eight Saturday matches. The home opener is slated for Saturday, April 25, versus visiting York9 FC.

The Cavs had an incredibly successful inaugural year in the Canadian Premier League, winning both the Spring and Fall seasons. A repeat will not be possible, because the league has moved to a single-table 28-game format for 2020.

According to the league, “the new format provides fans with a more competitive season that creates more exciting matches right to the end of the season”.
The top three teams will move to a playoff series. The first-place team will earn a bye to the championship, while second and third place will play for a chance at securing the second championship game spot.
