Hitmen beat the Blades in overtime in Saskatoon

SASKATOON (660 NEWS) – Josh Prokop scored his second goal of the night 2:31 into overtime to lift the Calgary Hitmen past the Saskatoon Blades 5-4 on Tuesday night at SaskTel Centre. Prokop also added an assist for his first career three point game in the Western Hockey League.

Both teams dug themselves out of trouble with Calgary erasing a 2-0 first period deficit less than six minutes into the game while Saskatoon overcame a 4-2 Hitmen lead to force the extra session.

Kaden Elder, Carson Focht and Riley Fiddler-Schultz also netted goals for the Hitmen with Focht adding an assist.

The Blades were powered by Dawson Davidson who tallied a goal and two assists. Kristian Roykas-Marthinsen, Josh Patterson and Brandon Schuldhaus provided the other markers.

Calgary outshot Saskatoon 41-40 with goaltender Carl Stankowski making 36 saves to record his first victory with the Hitmen.

The Hitmen now head to Moose Jaw on Friday before wrapping up their four-game East Division trip in Brandon on Saturday.
